Waiting...waiting...waiting

I absolutely love what I do...the only thing is I am not a great "waiter"....I like to know the times and dates of everything I do so I can plan properly. I suppose my line of work does not allow for such things..lol....I guess that is also known as a control freak! I am currently "waiting" for the "call". Her due date was the 27th and so far nothing. To be a bit selfish... if allowed...I would really like this to occur prior to leaving for Camp Meeting. I still have a few days left for this to happen. She is also a Doula and know that I am away on those days. I want to do this one because it would be my first home birth and first water birth all in one!!! If I could I would ask that she goes into labor tonight with a delivery by 9am. Asking too much???..lol Oh well thought I would try:)...waiting...waiting...waiting

Today so far has been a very relaxing day. It started out rather early with a great breakfast with my brother Ricky and his girlfriend (whom we absolutly love) Laurie. Did not do much after that for the afternoon. I then had a prenatal visit with a mommy to be (whom is also a doula). It was rather exciting because she is having a home birth. This will be my first home birth and I am praying I make it to this one. She is also a doula, which makes me a little nervous. I feel I can really help her with this. Now it is just the waiting. Sleeping next to my phone...No nyquil....no real late nights....packing my snack bag and doula bag...waiting...waiting ...waiting

Monday July 12, 2010

This is my first blog posting. A friend help me set this up...about a year ago and I am just doing it now...been kinda busy:)

Today was a home day today. Too many things to have to get done around the house. The kids swam for most of the day, they have turned into regular fishes. I have to make them get out just to eat their lunch. I just wish they were that excited about cleaning their rooms. :)

I just finished a Doula job this past week. It was a great one. The parents were very cool people. I was honored to have been a part of this birth. By the end I feel I knew them so well, as though we had known each other for many years and not less than a month. This was probably one of the best surprises as the baby was to be a girl and when "she was delivered" the nurse turned "her" over and shouted" Oh my gosh!!! You have a boy!" It was a surprise indeed!

I am suppose to attend a home birth at the end of the month. I hope I can make this one. I am kinda nervous about this one as it is for another Doula. I have never supported another doula through birth, this will be my first.

Better end for now..kids are calling for dessert.
